The Dunkwa Area Teachers’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (DATCCU) has officially opened its new branch in Akim Oda, marking another significant milestone in the Union’s commitment to bringing quality financial services closer to its members and the general public.
The official opening was preceded by a colourful funfair and a float through some of the principal streets of Akim Oda. The activity was organised to create awareness about DATCCU’s presence in the community and introduce its range of products and services to the people of Oda and surrounding communities.
The float attracted considerable attention from traders, drivers, business owners, passers-by and other members of the public. Participants carried placards with messages encouraging the public to save with DATCCU and take advantage of the financial opportunities offered by the Union. The team also interacted with traders at their shops and various places of business, engaging them on the benefits of becoming members of the Credit Union.
The awareness exercise provided an opportunity for the DATCCU team to explain the Union’s products and services directly to prospective members. The people expressed enthusiasm about the establishment of the branch, particularly the convenience of having DATCCU’s services closer to their homes and businesses. Stickers containing information about the Union’s products, services and contact details were also distributed to members of the public.
The awareness activity ended at the forecourt of the newly established branch, where the main durbar and official opening ceremony took place.
The durbar commenced at approximately 1:12 p.m. with an opening prayer led by Rev. Edward Amaning Enning, followed by the introduction of dignitaries and guests who had gathered to grace the occasion.
In his opening address, the Board Chairman, Mr John Ampah, welcomed the enthusiastic audience and distinguished guests. He recounted the events and considerations that led to the identification of Akim Oda as a potential and viable community for DATCCU’s operations.
Mr Ampah acknowledged the contributions of the former Board of Directors and all stakeholders whose efforts played a significant role in making the establishment of the Akim Oda Branch a reality. He expressed confidence in the potential of the new branch and encouraged the people of Oda to join the Union without fear. He further highlighted some of DATCCU’s achievements over the years, noting that these accomplishments had helped to deepen the trust and confidence of prospective members.

Mr Obeng invited the general public to do business with DATCCU and assured the community of the Union’s readiness to support local businesses and traders, particularly those who may ordinarily face difficulties accessing financial services from conventional banking institutions.
He also took the opportunity to explain the principles of the credit union and highlight the products and services available to members. At the conclusion of his remarks, the CEO introduced the staff of the Akim Oda Branch to the gathering.
Apostle Samuel, the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, subsequently prayed for the branch staff and reiterated his commitment to working with the Akim Oda community. He encouraged the people to embrace DATCCU wholeheartedly and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new branch.
Other guests also took turns to address the gathering and share their goodwill messages.

He encouraged the staff to value every member and prospective member who enters the branch to transact business, emphasising the importance of excellent customer service.
The Police Commander in charge of Operations assured DATCCU Management of the necessary security support for the staff and the branch facility. He also pledged to support the Union by providing relevant security training for the staff.
The NIB Manager likewise assured Management and the Board of Directors of his support and pledged his commitment to helping DATCCU establish a strong presence and gain a firm footing within the Akim Oda community.
The Chief, Obrempong Dr Gyamfi Sarfo Kyere, also addressed the gathering and offered valuable advice on security and the need for DATCCU to strengthen its engagement with traders and the wider business community.
He encouraged Management and the Board of Directors to consider opening additional branches in other viable communities within the Oda area as the Union continues to grow. He pledged his commitment to supporting the growth of the Akim Oda Branch and assured Management that they could count on his support whenever they encountered challenges.
The commissioning of the new branch was gracefully conducted by Reverend Samuel Acquaah, the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, who prayed over the facility and formally ushered the new office into the hands of God.
Following the commissioning, the dignitaries were taken on a tour of the facility, where they were introduced to the various offices and their respective functions.
The programme came to a successful close at exactly 3:20 p.m., marking the beginning of a new chapter for DATCCU in Akim Oda.
